Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby announced that he underwent a successful surgery on his left knee with a picture he posted to social media on Wednesday.

NFL Network reported that Crosby’s operation was to fix a bursa issue that had been plaguing him since Week 2 of the season and that Crosby is also set to undergo another operation this offseason for an issue with his thumb.

Despite playing through the various aliments throughout the season Crosby finished the season with 90 tackles, a league-leading 23 tackles for loss, and a career-high 14.5 sacks after appearing in all 17 games.

He also recorded two forced fumbles, two passes defended and one fumble recovery.

Crosby is expected to recover from his operations and be ready to go by the time next season rolls around, although the question remains who his head coach will be.

The Raiders are currently going through the process of deciding whether or not they will hire interim head coach Antonio Pierce permanently or bring in another hire from outside of the organization.

Crosby recently threw support behind the team hiring Pierce as permanent head coach on multiple occasions, the first of which being a tweet he sent out that said ‘#HireAp.’

The 26-year-old edge rusher’s tweet came in response to a report that Pierce was set to interview with the Tennessee Titans for their vacant head coaching position as a potential replacement for the recently fired Mike Vrabel.

Not long after that reports from NFL Network stated that Crosby would likely request a trade if the Raiders decided to hire a coach other than Pierce.

The reports came after Crosby took to his podcast and said: ‘I want to be a Raider … but if we go in a different direction, there is nothing that is off the table.’

Pierce took over midseason and led the team to a 5-4 record after former head coach Josh McDaniels was fired in November.
